Dr. Charles Neal, D.O. and Dr. Peter Manis, M.D. Escambia County’s Medical Director and Associate Medical Directors

Three board-certified emergency medicine specialists provide medical direction for Escambia County EMS. Dr. Charles Neal, D.O.; Dr. Peter Manis, M.D.; collectively have over forty years of experience in pre-hospital and emergency care. They have provided medical direction for multiple EMS systems throughout the state of Florida. The ECEMS Medical Directors have been instrumental in developing and implementing several new state programs, including layperson use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and the statewide stroke alert program.
