Emergency Communications Center
The Communications Division is responsible for the following:
- The Emergency Communications Center (ECC)
- Enhanced 9-1-1 for Escambia County
- Dispatch for 17 fire departments
- Dispatch for EMS
- Alpha-numeric paging system
- 18 communications sites
- 14 site digital microwave loop
In 2006, the ECC answered 183,838 9-1-1 calls, dispatched 15,238 Fire Department incidents, and dispatched 51,144 EMS calls. Additionally, the division answered 411,288 administrative (non 9-1-1) calls. The ECC also serves as the 24-hour contact point for Escambia County Emergency Management, Florida Emergency Management, and the National Weather Service.
